| Planina Vista Guesthouse, located in Selo (the village of)
Nikolaevo in South-eastern Bulgaria, is a detached property with
gardens of more than half an acre and extensive views over the rolling
foothills of the Stara Planina (Old Mountains). The area around
Nikolaevo is known as "Peach Valley" and forms one of the most
important fruit farming, vine-growing and agricultural export centres
in the country. The Guesthouse is spacious and comfortable and can sleep up to 9 adults or 6 adults and 3 children in three separate, self-contained apartments. Each apartment has its own private entrance and comprises: a kitchenette and dining area, a walk-in shower & w/c and a family room with twin settee/beds plus an additional full-size single fold-away bed for use as required. The apartments are comfortably furnished and benefit from satellite TV and high-speed wireless internet access. In addition, guests are welcome to use the central TV lounge, the games barn, with table-tennis, darts and floor-chess, the Mehana (traditional Bulgarian dining-area) and the summer kitchen with open barbecue facilities. |

The local village shop stocks a reasonable range of everyday items and, subject to seasonal availability, fresh fruit and vegetables hand-picked from our garden and vine trellis are
freely available, together with daily fresh eggs from our flock of
free-range chickens. Although just 15 minutes or so from the centre of Sliven, the 8th largest city in Bulgaria (population around 115000), Nikolaevo is a small, picturesque village that time seems to have forgotten. Surrounded by beautiful open countryside, hills, lakes and streams, the village has its own vineyards from which both the renowned Sliven wines and the local rakia is distilled. Nikolaevo is home to about 300 people and has a a number of local shops, a mini-market, church, post-office, mayor's office and community centre with a theatre and a small library. While there are good, regular bus routes to Sliven and the neighbouring towns, the donkey cart is still a common mode of transport and a more peaceful location for your visit to Bulgaria would be difficult to find. The local people are extremely friendly and everyone who visits Nikolaevo can be sure of a warm and genuine welcome While your stay at Planina Vista might not provide you with 5-star pampering - you will enjoy the unique experience of a slice of life in a typical Bulgarian village, with easy access to all the restaurants, markets, shopping, entertainment and sightseeing in the beautiful city of Sliven and the surrounding area. Visit us through the Spring and Summer seasons when the Bulgarian sun is at its best, the hills and vineyards are carpeted by their summer coat of flowers and all that can be heard is the sounds of the birds, the tinkle of goat bells and the breath of the warm summer breeze ...
